MEET THE STAFF

Justin Morris

Lead Pastor

Justin is the lead pastor of The Gathering Church. In 2017 he and some founding members planted The Gathering, with the vision that it would serve as a space for people to come closer to Jesus. His goal in teaching is to bring insight from the Scriptures to highlight how Jesus has moved and is moving in this world. When Justin isn't with his wife, Megan, and three kids Emery, Tessa, and Malcolm, he enjoys spending time in the woods mountain biking. Justin works for Verizon Wireless as a Client Executive and has been with the company for 15 years.

Joel Francis

Assistant Pastor

Joel is the assistant pastor of The Gathering Church. He and his wife Farren joined the Morris family in their efforts to plant The Gathering in 2017. His goal in teaching is to motivate and empower people to love God and love their neighbor. Joel and Farren have been married ten years and have three children: Annabelle, James, and Lucy. Joel is an attorney with the law firm of BotkinRose in Harrisonburg. When he isn’t working or with his family, you can find Joel hiking, at the gym, or tailgating at Bridgewater College.

Penny Dolan

Director of Children's Ministry

Penny has been the Director of the Children's Ministry at The Gathering since their doors opened in 2017. Week after week she handcrafts detailed lessons and illustrations to teach the children about God's great love for them, and their role in the Kingdom. Penny teaches first grade at South River Elementary School, where she has been teaching for 28 years. She has two grown children, and eight grandchildren (and one on the way)! When she isn't in the classroom, you can find her in her garden, or reading on her back porch with a cup of coffee.

Brad Saylor

Worship Leader

Brad heads up the worship ministry at the Gathering.  Brad was one of the first people to be baptized at the Gathering, and faithfully serves the congregation, helping craft worship experiences for the body.  He and his wife, Keara, have a young son, Finn, who keeps them busy.  Brad also serves the local children as an Assistant Principal at Montevideo Middle School

Megan Morris

Worship Leader

Megan, along with her husband, Justin, was one of the original founders of the Gathering Church.  Her strong commitment to leading the congregation in meaningful worship experiences is one of the hallmarks of The Gathering's Sunday experience.  Megan is a real estate agent for Funkhouser Realty Group.  She enjoys spending time with Justin and her three kids Emery, Tessa, and Malcolm, and is always eager to connect with her friends.

Gabbi Saylor

Social Media

Gabbi is the one behind the scenes, helping curate the Facebook page and Media content. Her strong desire to serve, and creativity have been a blessing to our congregation, and to those who encounter The Gathering on the web before coming to a live service. Gabbi is a newlywed, and enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband Kevin. She is a 5th grade teacher at South River Elementary.

Cyndi Sterling

Hospitality Ministry

Cyndi heads up our hospitality ministry, helping create a warm and welcoming environment for the congregation. Her steadfast prayers and support have been an instrumental blessing to the community. She loves entertaining guests at her home, and spending time with her husband, Mark, and daughter, Morgan.

Andy Barone

Service Ministries

Andy joined The Gathering five years ago, and has been a tremendous help in serving the community. He is a jack of all trades, and has numerous local connections to help meet the physical needs of those in the community. He is a representative for Ventrac machines, and can often be found on a tractor. He enjoys pizza, camping, and spending time with his wife Emily and three kids Tyson, Ellie, and Brooks.
